Maulana Qamruddin, Imam, Khateeb, & Head of Shahi Masjid Pandara Road near Khan Market, New Delhi, delivered a powerful address at the Communal Harmony Programme held at the prestigious Radisson Blu Plaza, Mahipalpur, New Delhi.

The event was hosted in one of the capital’s most iconic luxury hotels, a property that has stood as a symbol of Indian hospitality for over 25 years. Located strategically on NH-8 near Indira Gandhi International Airport and the Aerocity Metro Station, the Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport combines convenience with grandeur, making it the preferred venue for international conferences, weddings, cultural programmes, and high-profile gatherings.

First opened in 1998, Radisson Blu Plaza was the first Radisson property in India and continues to be one of the group’s flagship hotels in South Asia. Spread across a vast expanse in Mahipalpur, the hotel features:

The hotel was the brainchild of Dr. Ramesh Kapur, a distinguished civil engineer and visionary hotelier. After earning his Master’s in Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and a PhD from IIT Roorkee, Dr. Kapur transitioned from engineering to hospitality in the 1990s. Through his Umak Group and AB Hotels Ltd., he launched Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport as a pioneering project that introduced world-class luxury hospitality to India.

Dr. Kapur’s entrepreneurial foresight and commitment to inclusivity made the Radisson Blu Plaza not just a commercial success, but also a cultural hub that embraced diverse communities. He was widely respected in India’s hospitality circles and was the first Indian hotelier to receive the prestigious Carlson Fellow title from the global Radisson group. His untimely passing in August 2024 was mourned across the industry.

The Event & Its Spirit

Against this prestigious backdrop, the Communal Harmony Programme gathered leaders from multiple faiths — Muslim, Christian, Sikh, and Hindu — under one roof to promote peace, interfaith understanding, and social unity. The choice of Radisson Blu Plaza as the venue symbolized both excellence and inclusivity.

In his address, Maulana Qamruddin spoke passionately about the importance of communal harmony, emphasizing that peace and solidarity among different faiths form the foundation of a strong and united society. He also paid heartfelt tribute to Dr. Ramesh Kapur, acknowledging his vision and generosity in creating a hotel that reflects the values of hospitality, diversity, and togetherness.

The event highlighted how the Radisson Blu Plaza is not only a premier hotel for luxury travel and business but also a cultural landmark that continues to host programmes of national and social importance. Its enduring success stands as a testament to the vision of its founder and the dedication of the Kapur family in keeping alive a tradition of world-class service and inclusive spirit.

Maulana Qamruddin Delivers Speech and Leads Dua Following Taraweeh and Quran Completion Ramadan 2025 at India Islamic Cultural Centre, New Delhi. 110003

During Ramadan 2025 at the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), the Taraweeh prayers were beautifully conducted, culminating in the complete recitation of the Holy Quran. On this blessed occasion, Maulana Qamruddin, Imam, Khateeb, and Head of Shahi Masjid Pandara Road near Khan Market, New Delhi, delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of the Quran and the spiritual blessings of Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of understanding the Quran, following its teachings, and embracing piety and devotion during the holy month. Following his speech, Maulana Sahib led a heartfelt supplication (Dua) for the welfare, peace, and blessings of the Muslim community.

The event was held at the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), located on Lodhi Road, New Delhi, which was established to promote Islamic culture and foster interfaith dialogue in India. The idea of the centre emerged during the centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), when prominent figures, including alumni, recognized the need for a dedicated space for cultural exchange. In April 1981, a group of Muslim intellectuals and community leaders, including Hakeem Abdul Hameed, founder of Hamdard, and Mufti Atique ur Rahman, submitted a proposal to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to establish the centre. The Government of India allocated approximately 8,000 square meters of land on Lodhi Road for this purpose.

The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on August 24, 1984, marking the commencement of the project. Its architectural design blends traditional Islamic elements with modern aesthetics, reflecting India’s rich cultural heritage. Construction began in 1996 and was completed in 2006, with the official inauguration by Sonia Gandhi, then President of the Indian National Congress.

The IICC comprises a 450-seat auditorium, conference rooms, guest rooms, a library, cafeteria, and outdoor lawns, serving as a hub for cultural and intellectual activities. It organizes lectures, seminars, cultural events, and interfaith dialogues, promoting understanding and tolerance among diverse communities. Over the years, it has hosted numerous events celebrating Islamic culture and heritage, reinforcing its role as a center for cultural exchange, spiritual enrichment, and community engagement.
